Along with information about Indiana’s business climate and workforce, the website highlights locations across the state where international companies have selected Indiana for their U.S. operations. It also includes facts about thriving Indiana industries and their key companies in the state, ranging from agribusiness to diesel engines.”

On December 18th , ACSI welcomed the China Investment Promotion Agency (CIPA) delegation to Indianapolis for a business and investment trade mission. The delegation, consisting of top level business and government leaders from Beijing, had the unique opportunity to have dinner of the floor of Bankers Life Fieldhouse, mingle with ACSI Board Members and special guests and test out their own basketball skills. The following day, the delegates attended a presentation by the Hendricks County Economic Development Partnership at the Vincennes University Logistics Training and Education Center in Plainfield.

Russell Menyhart, ACSI board member and Of Counsel at Taft Stettinius & Hollister, gave a presentation on the state of Chinese politics and economy at a Nov. 21st luncheon at the offices of Taft. Stemming from his experience as Political Unit Chief at the U.S. Consulate in Shanghai from 2011-2014, Menyhart discussed the period of great change and uncertainty China is experiencing as it seeks to position itself as a world leader. Guests of Taft and ACSI were present, including ACSI board members, Harrison Ding and Joe Xu.

ACSI and the Research Center for Chinese Politics and Business (RCCPB) at Indiana University co-hosted a luncheon at ACSI’s offices on Sept. 26, 2014.  The event featured a presentation by the new RCCPB Practitioner in Residence, Dr. Zhang Xingxiang, in which he addressed American companies’ advantages and challenges in working with Chinese companies. Speaking from his experience at General Electric (China) for the past decade and previous tenure with the State Council’s Legislative Affairs Office, Dr. Zhang provided a unique glimpse of an evolving Chinese market.

ACSI was pleased to host their third annual gala at the JW Marriott on September 16, 2014. Over 275 guests were in attendance representing ACSI member organizations, regional supporters, special guests and volunteers. Chinese Consul General Mr. Zhao Weiping delivered the keynote speech and spoke to the growing Indiana – China relationship. Mr. Tom Xiao, employee of Eli Lilly and a board member at ACSI, received an award for his individual work in the Chinese community in Indiana, Cummins received an award for their corporate work in China and ACSI’s new board members were introduced. The Indianapolis Chinese Community Center, Inc., provided traditional Chinese dance as entertainment for the evening.

The America China Society of Indiana (ACSI) hosted its annual Summer Social with the Indy Eleven soccer team on Wednesday, August 6th, 2014. With 43 members in attendance, guests were able to mingle during a networking session before Indy Eleven took on the Fort Lauderdale Strikers in front of a sold-out crowd at IUPUI’s Carroll Stadium. Despite the lack of goals in the 0-0 result, everyone had a great time making new friends during the cool, evening weather.

On Friday, May 9th, the America China Society of Indiana  hosted a reception for Dr. Bing Xiang, Dean of Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB) at the JW Marriott. Known as the “Harvard of China”, CKGSB is China’s only private educational institution and provides executive-level training at its campuses in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen. CKGSB’s alumni include more than 2,500 C-Level business leaders whose companies together generated more than $1 trillion USD in 2011.

Reception attendees had an opportunity to network before Dr. Xiang  gave a presentation on the growth of China’s economy and globalization trends. The reception was the first event as part of the Dean’s trip to Indiana during which he met with education, government, and business leaders throughout the state.

On March 6th, Global Caravan Technologies (GCT), a luxury RV and specialty vehicle innovator, unveiled its CR-1 Carbon prototype at the Dallara IndyCar Factory in Speedway , across the street from the company’s R&D headquarters.

The CR-1 Carbon becomes the world’s first all-carbon fiber, super-luxury RV for series production, utilizing technologies from multiple industries including motorsports, automotive, IT and aerospace. The prototype offers substantial benefits to consumers including smart control functions, high fuel economy, high strength structures and innovative designs.
“Consumer-driven innovation is at the heart of GCT’s mission,” said Harrison Ding, chairman and president of Global Caravan Technologies. “We built a transformative product through collaborations with world-class partners.”
The company, which boasts partners such as Dallara and Purdue University, employs a veteran team of former IndyCar champions and aerospace technicians to design and build its state-of-the-art products.

“GCT brings transformation to an industry we Hoosiers are already very proud of,” said Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann. “We’re very pleased to support this innovative company as it continues to grow.”
Backed by significant investment from China, GCT plans to market its products internationally with a strong focus on China. As part of the country’s five-year plan, both central and local Chinese governments are aggressively investing in RV tourism infrastructure.

The Indy Chamber hosted their annual World Trade Day Conference on April 25, 2014 at the Hilton Hotel in downtown Indianapolis. The event program featured panel discussions on the new non-stop multimodal Canadian Route which allows Indiana goods quicker access into the Asian market, economic opportunities for U.S companies in Europe, global cities, economic opportunities in emerging markets, and economic opportunities for U.S. companies in Asia/Pacific. Included on these panels and in other presentations were Consuls representing 13 countries. Chinese Consul General, Mr. Zhao Weiping, attended a luncheon with ACSI board members and special guests prior to his panel presentation where the future relationship between the Consul General’s office and ACSI was affirmed.
