On Thursday, October 4th, Americans for Free Trade will host “Tariffs Hurt the Heartland” at Regions Bank Tower, 5th Floor Conference Center // One Indiana Square, Indianapolis, IN 46204.

The event will include a panel comprised of Indianapolis-area business owners and farmers, retailers and manufacturers who will share stories about their aspirations to grow their business through expanded export opportunities. They will also share how their workers’ livelihoods are impacted by the current multi-faced trade war. Finally, the panel will discuss how consumers may be impacted by tariff measures.

Confused by export license procedures? Worried that you might violate U.S. export control laws without even knowing it? Are you in compliance with the Bureau of Industry & Security laws and regulations? Violation of Export Administration Regulations could lead to criminal and administrative penalties! Join us as we host export compliance official from the Bureau of Industry and Security who will discuss export controls and enforcement.

Seminar Overview:
The Indianapolis office of the U.S. Department of Commerce is pleased to present this event that will provide the export community with information on export controls. This seminar is appropriate for a variety of experience levels, and will feature a comprehensive learning approach utilizing hands on problem solving methods.

* How to determine your export control classification number (ECCN)
* Steps to take to determine the export licensing requirements for your item

On Tuesday, April 10th, the Indiana Council on World Affairs welcomes Weilin Long to present the Great Decisions topic, “China & America: the New Geopolitical Equation.”  The discussion will cover China’s expansive strategy of economic diplomacy in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond, while the United States has taken a step back from multilateral trade agreements. How should the U.S. respond to this shift in the balance of power?

In addition to her service on the America China Society of Indiana Board, Weilin Long is the Global Chamber® Indianapolis Executive Director.
