Are you looking to enhance your talent pipeline in China? On March 11, 2014, the America China Society of Indiana (ACSI), the Purdue University Center for Career Opportunities, and the Purdue University Chinese Students and Scholars Association (PUCSSA) will be holding a Mandarin-Speaking Internship/Career Fair at Purdue’s West Lafayette campus. With nearly 4,300 Mandarin-speaking students at one of the nation’s most prestigious universities, this event features some of the brightest young minds who are looking to work for organizations like yours!

Free employer registration begins on November 18th. Attendees will receive exhibit space, covered table, brunch, snacks and one parking pass for the event. Additional space to conduct interviews will be available as well.

The Indiana Business Journal, Chase and J.P. Morgan present 2014 Global Indiana on Thursday Feb., 28 at the JW Marriott.  2014 Global Indiana‘s theme “Crossing Borders: Key Global Trends; How do they impact your choices?” will look at growth in emerging international markets, foreign subsidiary capital structures, and other highlighted international business topics. Indy International Festival 2013The 37th Annual Indianapolis International Festival will be held at the State Fair Grounds in Indianapolis on November 22-24, 2013. This event will feature over 50 ethnic and cultural groups with international food selections, gifts, music, and performances.

The America China Society of Indiana (ACSI) cordially invites you to the latest installment of the China Business Proficiency Series on November 14 in Columbus! In this edition, our three speakers will examine business opportunities in China from a wide range of perspectives.

Speakers and Topics

Bob Borchelt, Cummins Inc.: “Advanced Manufacturing in China”
Our keynote speaker, who has helped Cummins build and refine multiple factories in China, will discuss just what is possible in terms of advanced manufacturing in today’s China and where the country is headed.

John Fairbanks, Civitas Indiana EB-5 Regional Center: “China and the EB-5 Investment Opportunity”
John will explain the EB-5 “Immigrant Investor” visa and the opportunities it is bringing to central and southern Indiana Indiana through the recently approved Civitas EB-5 Regional Center.

Dave Carini, America China Society of Indiana: “First Steps Into China”
Dave will give a brief introduction of ACSI and then discuss how small and medium-sized businesses can make the most of their initial foray into this new market.

About the Series

ACSI’s China Business Proficiency Series aims to help Indiana businesses expand their businesses into China, build successful relationships with Chinese companies, and connect with Indiana’s China business community. The quarterly series was started in 2011; past events have included topics such business etiquette, negotiations, network building, and business trips. Events are held throughout the state in cooperation with Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana.

RCCPBThe Research Center for China Politics and Business (RCCPB) at IU Bloomington will host Dr. John Wagner Givens, a post doctoral researcher at the Center For Asian Democracy at the University of Louisville in the IMU Persimmon Room from 4:00-5:30pm on Friday, Nov.1st, 2013.  Dr. Givens will provide a cogent picture not only of which lawyers litigate administrative cases and why, but of the political impact of China’s legal professionals on liberalization and democratization. Dr. Givens will be giving this talk again on Nov. 6, 2013 from noon-1pm in Ford Hall, Room 407 at the University of Louisville as part of the Asia in Focus Speaker Series.
