United States Heartland China Association (USHCA) is a 501(c)3 bipartisan organization committed to building stronger ties between USHCA Region (20 states located in the USA between the Great Lakes to the Gulf) and the People’s Republic of China. Our focus will be on Trust Building efforts connecting government officials; business leaders; educational and community interests with like minded institutions between the Heartland Region and the People’s Republic of China.

It was founded in 1902 as Indiana Central University and was popularly known as Indiana Central College from 1921 until 1975. In 1986 the name was changed to University of Indianapolis.

Vincennes University
Vincennes University has extensive agreements with international universities especially China to create study and research opportunities for students and faculty. This site contains information about international academic exchange programs, transferral programs, and collaborations with agencies. These programs allow a VU student to study at other institutions completing courses that will count toward VU graduation. The programs also allow international students to study at VU either studying English as a second language or completing courses that will count towards their degree at their home campuses.

Indiana-Zhejiang Business and Trade Seminar Recap
Thank you to the more than 130 individuals and 80 companies and organizations who attended the 2013 Indiana-Zhejiang Investment & Trade Seminar yesterday! Your participation made the event a great success, further strengthening the ties between our two sister states and giving people and businesses the chance to make new friends and explore new opportunities. This seminar was a testament to the ongoing 25+ year sister state relationship between Indiana and the Zhejiang Province.

Indianapolis’ Sister City hosts display of Hoosier life
On October 1st, the Hangzhou Public Library opened the “Taste of Indianapolis” display showing visitors aspects of Indianapolis’ culture, sports, and business. The 650 guests who attending the opening ceremony were greeted with life-size cutouts of Colts and Pacer players, photo displays, and video reels highlighting Monument Circle, Eli Lilly, the Indianapolis 500, Bazbeaux pizza and other Indy icons. Members of the Indianapolis-Hangzhou Sister City Committee (IHSCC) were present at the opening of the event to reaffirm cultural, educational, and business connections between the two cities. Photos from ACSI booth at 2013 Indianapolis Chinese Festival
ACSI’s tent at the 2013 Indianapolis Chinese Festival gave visitors a chance to learn about the organization, see a visual representation of Chinese Business presence throughout the state, and try their luck at the Chopstick Challenge. September 21 brought beautiful weather, but heavy winds almost blew our tent away several times. The festival itself featured dozens of performances, delicious Chinese food, and thousands of visitors. ACSI shared the tent with the Asian Learning Center of Indiana and would like the Center’s Lois Luo for all her help in organizing the event.
Nov. 22-24, 2013: Indy International Festival
The 37th Annual Indianapolis International Festival will be held at the State Fair Grounds in Indianapolis on November 22-24, 2013. This event will feature over 50 ethnic and cultural groups with international food selections, gifts, music, and performances.
The Chinese Stilt Walker “Chopstick Man” and the Silk Road Ensemble will be some of the many event features with a Chinese theme. Click here or visit the event’s Facebook page for more information.

John will explain the EB-5 “Immigrant Investor” visa and the opportunities it is bringing to central and southern Indiana Indiana through the recently approved Civitas EB-5 Regional Center.
Dave Carini, America China Society of Indiana: “First Steps Into China”
Dave will give a brief introduction of ACSI and then discuss how small and medium-sized businesses can make the most of their initial foray into this new market.
About the Series
ACSI’s China Business Proficiency Series aims to help Indiana businesses expand their businesses into China, build successful relationships with Chinese companies, and connect with Indiana’s China business community. The quarterly series was started in 2011; past events have included topics such business etiquette, negotiations, network building, and business trips. Events are held throughout the state in cooperation with Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana.
