ACSI’s 2013 Annual Gala was held on April 25th at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. This Year of the Snake-themed event featured a silent auction, dinner, traditional Chinese performances, and speeches by leaders within the Indianapolis community. The gala was attended by over 200 people and the success of this event helped to ensure the financial success of the organization in the coming year.

Feb. 6, 2013: Internship Matchmaker
ACSI and the Purdue University Center for Career Opportunities hosted an Internship Matchmaker for Mandarin-speaking students on Feb. 6, 2013. This event was targeted specifically at students whose first language was not likely English and who may often face barriers to finding internships during college because of their US residency status. Purdue University has one of the highest international student populations in the county and creating an event for a specific portion of this population provided a unique opportunity to place many eager students with well-developed skillsets at Indiana companies.
July 26, 2012: Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China dinner reception
Twenty delegates from the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China (MOFCOM), the primary national agency responsible for formulating foreign trade policy, export and import regulations, and the promotion of foreign direct investment attended a dinner and reception at the Skyline Club in Indianapolis on July 26, 2012 hosted by ACSI, Purdue and Duke Energy . This delegation visited New York City, San Francisco and Indiana to assess best U.S. investment opportunities for Chinese business.
June 20, 2012: EB-5 Seminar
ACSI hosted an educational seminar on the EB-5 Immigrant Investor visa program at First Merchants Bank on June 20, 2012. This seminar featured speakers Jenny Massey and Marco Moreno who covered the details of this investment option and the opportunities it brings for companies in Indiana. Indiana’s EB-5 Regional Centers provide administrative and process support for those investors seeking this option in the state.
June 1, 2012: CBPS – Ignorance, Experience & Success in Business
ACSI’s China Business Proficiency Series event “Ignorance, Experience & Success in Business” brought together speakers Dan Miller and Ting Gootee to outline their experiences working in international and Asian markets sharing high points and low points in their efforts to find success in these markets. Miller, the Executive Director at the Institute for Global Enterprise in Indiana and Gootee, the Vice President of Investments and China Advisor at the Indiana Economic Development Corporation both held a variety of previous roles in which they had extensive international business experience. Following the presentations, high school students from Arsenal Tech shared their experiences from a recent trip to China which was supported by ACSI.
Sept. 10, 2011: ACSI attends the Indianapolis Chinese Festival
ACSI hosted a table a the Indianapolis Chinese Festival, the state’s premier Chinese cultural event. While mingling with festival attendees, ACSI members and staff were also able to form a broader understanding of the network of Chinese organizations here in the state.
Aug. 10, 2011: CBPS – Protecting Intellectual Property
ACSI’s China Business Proficiency Series “Protecting Intellectual Property” featured Frank Levinson, Managing Director of Small World Group, speaking on “How to Build a Billion Dollar Company,” focusing on how to leverage incentives being offered in Singapore and the market in China. The event also featured a panel from Bose McKinney and Evans discussing how to protect intellectual property in China.
ACSI is Looking for an Intern!
ACSI is looking for an intern for the fall semester!
Interns will have the opportunity to meet with some of Indiana’s premier business leaders and participate in events with delegations from China. Along with tending to membership issues, interns will work closely with ACSI staff to develop outreach strategies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide excellent customer service to ACSI members
2. Help organize and plan ACSI events
3. Represent ACSI in a professional manner at private events
4. Contribute relevant information for ACSI newsletters
5. Research data on the latest business trends locally and abroad
6. Develop social media campaigns utilizing Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Current undergraduate or graduate from an Indiana-based college or university
2. Strong and effective oral and written communication skills
3. Ability to manage multiple tasks
4. One-year of work experience preferred
5. Microsoft Office proficient
6. Social networking, competent internet technology skills

ACSI Announces New Executive Director
ACSI is pleased to announce Dave Carini as its new executive director. Dave joins ACSI after more than thirteen years living and working in China, most recently as managing director of Maverick China Research, a Beijing-based market research and consulting firm he co-founded in 2006. Dave speaks fluent Chinese and brings a wealth of cross-cultural business development and strategic planning experience to ACSI.
